QUACKS, MEDICAL MAFIA AND THE GOVERNMENT

QUACKS, MEDICAL MAFIA AND THE GOVERNMENT

§ There is an acute shortage of doctors in India.
§ Thousands of patients die because doctors were not available to them.
§ The government is going to allow semi-skilled doctors to provide medical care where the skilled ones are not available.
§ Those who see this profession as a minting occupation than an opportunity to serve have started raising hue and cry.
§ 45% of medical trade is occupied by very simple prescription e.g. pain killers, gastric problems, depression problems etc.
§ Specialized medical treatment share is only 8.7% of the complete medical trade.
§ As per views by a survey 87% consumers are not satisfied the way they were treated with by these so called Trained Medical Experts.
Like other developing countries India is also facing an acute shortage of trained medical practitioners. As per statement of the concerned minister in November 2011 in India there was 1 doctor for 2000 patients. This medical population is usually concentrated in big cities. The picture assumes a more horrible face in villages and small towns. As per a report in The Guardian newspaper in 2009 in India one infant died every 15 seconds in want of a proper medical help.
To improve upon this grim scenario the government has decided:

§ Giving AYUSH docs the right to prescribe allopathic drugs after a one year course.
§ A compulsory Bachelor of Rural Health Care course
§ AIIMS-like institutions in various parts of the countries. They are going to be located in Patna, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh.
§ A compulsory bond that will force the docs to return to India after completing their medical education abroad.
§ Setting up of a centralized National Commission of Human Resources and Health which will have all other medical bodies in the country under its jurisdiction.
In response to this govt. initiative some people have started criticizing it. In their arrogant style they have coined a term – Hybrid Doctors. Critics are mostly those groups and people who are least bothered about the welfare of the country or the human beings but are largely guided by their capabilities of earning money and adversities related to it. For this group of thinkers (!) they and their needs always stand first in the queue.
